Thousands travelled from across the Maritimes to New Brunswick to experience something they may never see again, a total solar eclipse.
Solar eclipse glasses were in demand as thousands of people lined up along the Petitcodiac River in Moncton before EclipSol, a festival organized specifically for the special event.
Others headed to Miramichi or Fredericton, two locations in the path of totality.
The movement began at around 3:30 pm with the the moon fully covering the sun at around 4:30 pm.
Three men we spoke to travelled from Nova Scotia to view the eclipse in Blackville. One described it as eerie, but spectacular at the same time. He said everything went quiet, and dark with sounds of wildlife including owls.
The next total solar eclipse for New Brunswick, won’t be for another 55 years in May of 2079.
