Joshua Daniel Joseph Martin, of Moncton, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on May 10 and was charged with robbery and assault with a weapon.
He is now in custody and is scheduled to return to court on May 15 at 1:30 p.m.
At around 6 p.m. yesterday, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to the parking lot of a car wash business located on Mapleton Road.
A man had approached a vehicle with two people inside and asked for a cigarette.
He got into the vehicle, then produced a weapon and demanded money.
An altercation ensued and one of the occupants was injured. He was transported to hospital for treatment, and has since been released.
Following the assault, the suspect got into a waiting vehicle, which then fled the scene.
Police located the suspect vehicle a short time later on Essex Street, and the three occupants of the vehicle were arrested. Two were later released, and a 29-year-old man was held in custody.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
