Moncton Fire battles blaze in north end trailer park

A mobile home on Marsh Street has been extensively damaged by fire.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Mike Lake says they were called to the Ryder Trailer Park at around 5:35 pm Tuesday afternoon.

Reports to the Fire Department indicated that one resident was still in the residence but Lake says they had managed to get out safely before firefighters arrived on scene.

Two pets, a dog and cat, died in the blaze.

”Any fire in a mobile home is very, very hot, because it is like being inside a tin can,” Lake told us. “There was lots of black smoke and visibility was an issue.”

Lake says firefighters knocked the fire down quickly but remained on scene sifting through the remains as they continued to smoulder.

Firefighters were still on scene at around 9:15 pm Tuesday night.

A cause is still being determined.
