Innovative Bicycle Corral Unveiled In Downtown Moncton

Cyclists are now able to park and secure their bikes on an eye-catching new rack near Moncton City Hall, on the corner of Botsford and Main Streets.

Encorp Atlantic and La Bikery have collaborated on the green-coloured bicycle rack which is shaped like a car.

Encorp Atlantic general manager Pierre Landry says the ultimate goal is to incorporate recyclable bins and containers.

“This is part of a greater concept called ‘public space recycling’ and obviously it fits well with sustainable transportation and active living,” he notes.

Landry says the new bike corral can accommodate a dozen bicycles in the same space one car would usually take up in a single parking space.

The bike corral was designed by avid cyclist Brian Branch and it was brought to life by Metaltech of Dieppe.
