Teen dies in crash in northern N.B.

A 17-year-old girl has died after a crash near Tracadie.

RCMP say the two-vehicle crash happened Friday evening at Saulnier Road West and Alderwood Road in Saint-Irénée.

The driver of one vehicle, a girl from Saint-Isidore, was taken to hospital where she later died.

The other driver suffered minor injuries.

Police say the collision is believed to have occurred when the car travelling on Alderwood Road turned east onto Saulnier Road West and was struck by a vehicle travelling west.

Members of the Tracadie fire department and Ambulance New Brunswick, as well as an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and a drone operator assisted at the scene.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the girl’s exact cause of death.
