Investigation Into Cap-Pele Fire Underway

An investigation is underway by RCMP and the New Brunswick Fire Marshal after fire destroyed a fish processing plant in Cap-Pele.

Around eight fire departments battled the blaze on Sunday morning at the Cape Bald Packers plant.

When emergency responders arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.

The plant was closed and there were no employees inside at the time.

Meantime, Beausejour MP Dominic Leblanc met yesterday with Jean Yves Duclos, who is the Minister Responsible for Service Canada.

In a tweet, he says they discussed the Cape Bald Packers fire in Cap-Pele and how they can best support the employees.

He adds they will provide assistance as needed and monitor the situation.

A company spokesperson for Cape Bald Packers, Joanne Losier says they have plans to rebuild the plant.
