Moncton Students In Montreal For WE Day

Fourteen students from Bessborough School are among thousands of youth attending WE day in Montreal today.

Among this years motivational speakers are Musical artist Ria Mae, Astronaut David Saint-Jacques and Neon Dreams.

Sally Carpenter is a Teacher at Bessborough, who also runs the Leadership Program. She says the fourteen chosen students have been with their leadership program since grade 6, “We go to classes , we do lesson plans, we plan whole school activities. They know what a positive impact they can have when they choose to do good, but it really sends the message home that when they choose to work together, what they’re able to accomplish is really quite astounding.”

Carpenter says travelling to Montreal and attending WE Day was a once in a lifetime experience for some of these kids. Several had never flown on a plane before.

“Having been to a WE day before, it is really quite empowering for students. It is difficult to describe unless you have been there,” Carpenter says.
