Mixed Precipitation Causes Flooding And Icy Conditions Across Region

Messy is the best way to describe it.

Conditions went from snow, to rain to freezing rain, and we are seeing more snow today.

Schools in Anglophone North, Anglophone East and Francophone South are closed today.

There are many delayed openings as well. That list can be found here.

As for amounts, the Moncton region saw just over 12 centimetres of snow, and almost 30 millimetres of rain, that was as of 2am.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Richard Lafortune says other areas saw more precipitation, “The highest amounts I am seeing are over Northeast new Brunswick. It looks like they received almost 40 centimetres. Northwest New Brunswick is closer to 25 centimetres.”

The winter storm warning has ended, along with the rainfall warning. We were under a flash freeze warning earlier today, but that has also ended.

Flooding on roadways in and around Moncton is making things difficult for motorists. Many are having to find another route to get to their destination.

Roadways are also slick, because they are covered in ice.
