A Nova Scotia man has been charged in connection with the armed robbery of a pedestrian in Moncton.

Around 8:30 Wednesday morning, Codiac RCMP say a man walking along Shediac Road was approached by another man who allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded money.

When the victim said he didn’t have any, the man followed him to a gas station where the victim could withdraw money from a bank machine.

Mounties along with a police dog tracked the suspect to a nearby hotel but he wasn’t found.

The suspect was located four hours later travelling with a woman in a vehicle near the Confederation Bridge.

Thirty-year-old Demarqus Beals of Dartmouth remains in custody and is facing several charges including armed robbery.
