Arrests Made After RCMP Seize Weapons and Drugs In Kent County

A Rexton man and woman are facing several charges after Mounties carried out a search warrant in the community on Wednesday.

RCMP say officers searched a home on North Street and seized restricted firearms, prohibited knives, a quantity of possible methamphetamine pills along with stolen property including tools and an all-terrain vehicle.

The man and woman were arrested at the home and made their first court appearance Thursday.

Thirty-three-year-old Malcolm Tyler Hannay and 35-year-old Zabrina Augustine have each been charged with several offences related to the seizures.

Both are being held in custody and return to court Friday for a bail hearing.

Meantime, Mounties carried out another search in Kent County on Wednesday at a home in Saint-Louis-de-Kent where drugs and a firearm were seized.

RCMP say a man and woman were both arrested at the Cyriac Street home.

A 29-year-old woman was later released and will appear in court at a later date.

Thirty-nine-year-old Gerard Chevarie of Saint-Louis-de-Kent has been charged with several offences including unauthorized possession and unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of methamphetamines.

He remains in custody and will return to court for a bail hearing on Friday.
