Cannabis Producers Getting Better Sense Of What Consumers Want

Cannabis producers had to make a lot of assumptions about the adult recreational market when marijuana was legalized in mid-October.

As a result, some products have been more popular than others and many shortages have occurred.

Organigram chief commercial officer Ray Gracewood says there have been some surprises.

“For example, pre-rolls (joints) seem to be far more popular than what we had assumed they might be. Another product that has really seen great traction is CBD oil.”

Gracewood says Organigram is now working with retailers such as Cannabis NB to get a better sense of the products and sales to update their forecasts and provide customers with what they want.

Organigram now supplies cannabis to retailers in nine provinces and Gracewood says no one anticipated such a huge demand which has led to shortages across the country.
