‘We Can Do Better, and We Did’: Moncton Mayor On Emergency Homeless Shelter

Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold says one of the tough moments of the year came with trying to find a way to help the homeless off the street.

She is proud of how the whole community came together to help create an emergency out of the cold shelter at the former fire station on Assomption Boulevard.

“That was a really tough one, I had so many Monctonians come up to me with really, really heavy hearts, this was really a very tough, tough time for Monctonians to think that anyone in our community might not have a safe and warm place to sleep at night,” says Arnold. ”

Arnold says seeing organizations, groups, and individuals come forward in a short amount of time to put together a safe, warm space for the homeless was wonderful.
