RCMP help save three people after car lands in water in Caraquet

Three people managed to survive a crash in Caraquet thanks to the quick actions of the RCMP.

On November 30th, a car left Chemin Saint-Simon and landed in the freezing waters.

Submerged and only with the car roof above water, one person managed to get to shore safely.

But with two others still struggling to get to safety, an RCMP officer reacted quickly, and while treading water, he was able to reach them to assist.

Two of the individuals were taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The quick response and selfless actions by our members undoubtedly prevented this from becoming a much more serious situation,” says Sergeant Pierre Chiasson. “At the end of the day, everyone made it home safely.”
