RCMP looking to identify other victims of online exploitation

RCMP is trying to determine if there are other victims in an ongoing investigation into online exploitation.

An investigation began in March 2023, after the RCMP received information from the Roussillon Intermunicipal Board of Police in Quebec.

So far, all of the victims are from Quebec but they are trying to determine if there are others.

A 26 and 27-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman from Cote D’Ivoire, Africa were arrested after electronic devices were seized during searches at Moncton and Dieppe locations in March.

Two were charged with possession of property obtained by crime during a court appearance in August. They appeared in court again on November 22nd.

RCMP determined through the investigation, that between April 2022, and March 2023, large sums of money were received from multiple victims through online extortion, scams, and threats. Victims were asked to send money via e-transfer to the following email addresses: axelgouin12@gmail.com and axoubisou225@gmail.com.

If you are a victim or have any information related to these incidents or similar ones, please contact your local police. If you have information that may assist the investigation and would like to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
