Instead of throwing your leftover pumpkins in the trash, donate them to Kavanagh Farm.
They’re accepting pumpkins that aren’t painted or bleached and haven’t started going soft after Halloween.
“We will accept any and all of them and if we get too many we share with other farmers. The animals on the farm, goats and sheep, pigs and chickens and ducks and rabbits eat them up. They’re actually a good dewormer for them,” says Owner Charlene Austin-Kavanagh.
Last year, Austin-Kavanagh says donations were plentiful. They received around 250 pumpkins.
They can be dropped off at the farm located on Route 134 in Shediac Cape in the evening or on weekends.
“We can give you a tour of the farm and you can actually feed pumpkin to the animals,” Austin-Kavanagh adds.
