4th Annual Walk For Autism

April is Autism Acceptance month and the city’s 4th annual walk for autism is this Satuday.

The walk begins at 10 o’clock at the Moncton Wesleyan Centre and participants will walk to Centennial Park and back.

Over 800 people have taken part in the walk in previous years.

Other indoor and outdoor activities such as bouncy castles and Mad Science will be happening until noon.

Angele Collette is the executive director of the Moncton Autism Resource Centre.

She says the event is a great way to promote autism awareness and bring together residents who are impacted by autism.

According to a 2018 study by the National Autism Spectrum Disorder Surveillance System, an estimated 1 in 66 Canadians were diagnosed with Autism.

Collette says it’s important for those affected to know they have support and services available to them.
