Drug related charges laid in trafficking investigation

Two women from Moncton and an Ontario man have been arrested in connection with an RCMP drug trafficking investigation in the Greater Moncton area.

On June 1st, officers arrested a 41-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman in the Salisbury area.

Later the same morning, police searched two homes on Murphy Avenue in Moncton, and Chianti Street in Dieppe, and a business on Route 115 in Irishtown.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested during the search in Dieppe.

Police seized more than eight kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, two kilograms of what is believed to be fentanyl, significant quantities of Shady 8 pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, electronics, and money.

The two women were later released from custody, and are both scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on August 9 at 9:30 a.m.

On June 2, the man appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and was charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

He was charged on June 6 with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and trafficking benzimidazole.

He’ll return to court on June 13 at 1:30 p.m.
