Umpires needed for Slo-Pitch league

A local Slo-Pitch league is on the hunt for more Umpires.

Hub City Slo-Pitch league President Bernie Melanson says it’s an opportunity for those who love the game and have a few hours to spare, “There’s an online test that you can do. It’s like an open book test, so you can look through the rule book, answer some questions and once you pass the test, you are then eligible to umpire tournaments and league games.”

They’re paid around $65 for a doubleheader.

“Most of our umpires are previous players or past players, so they already have a pretty good understanding of the game,” Melanson adds.

There are less than three weeks to go before the season begins.

An information session will be held this Saturday.
