Two separate fires damage trucks, vehicle and business

Extensive damage to two vehicles after separate fires in Moncton.

In the first, thick black smoke was reported coming from one of the bays at a Muffler shop on Mountain Road at around 5:15 pm.

Moncton Fire Acting Platoon Chief Paul MacFadyen says three crews were on the scene with another on standby a block away.

It’s believed a vehicle caught fire inside the building. There’s also significant smoke damage to the business.

It took firefighters around an hour to extinguish the blaze.

A second vehicle fire was reported at around 7:30 pm last night, also on Mountain Road.

This one involved a tractor-trailer at a gas station near Magnetic Hill.

Firefighters were on the scene for around an hour.

MacFadyen says there’s significant damage to one truck, while a second blistered from the heat and its tires were melted.

Both fires are under investigation to determine what caused them.

No one was hurt in either incident.
