Trips across the border remain lower than 2019

Travel continues to remain below pre-COVID numbers.

Figures released by Statistics Canada show Canadians made 3.1 million trips abroad last December.

While this is twice the number from December 2021, it is 70 per cent of the number from the pre-pandemic December 2019 level.

Two-point-five million Canadians returned from the U.S.

Almost 70 per cent were same-day trips.

U.S. residents made 1.2 million trips to Canada in December, with 46 per cent being same-day travel

Of the total arrivals, 868,600 were by automobile.
