24 Hour Bio Blitz In Fundy National Park

For the next 24 hours, volunteers led by experts will be in Fundy National Park taking pictures of all sorts of wildlife, and plant life.

Park spokesperson Denis Doucet says it’s called a Bio Blitz.

Using smartphones, and digital cameras with the iNaturalist App, volunteers will take pictures for professionals to identify and catalog.

Doucet says they have found new species before.

“Grasshoppers and katydids and dragonflies that were new to the site and butterflies that were rare, so it’s really, really rewarding and exciting,” says Doucette.

Doucet says they expect to cover a lot of ground, and log many different species of plants and animals.
