Negative COVID test required for travellers coming from China

The federal government will require a negative COVID-19 test for passengers coming to Canada on flights from mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau.

It will be put into effect on January 5.

The U.S., Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan and Italy have similar measures in place due to a surge in COVID cases.

Additionally, there are concerns about transparency and data surrounding the virus in China.
