Riverview Ice Cream And Hot Chocolate Business Vandalized

A popular Riverview spot for a sweet treat has been hit by vandals.

Owner of the Ice Cream Barn Will Campbell says the damage means his Pinewood Road business will be closed until further notice, “Both windows were broken, and a bunch of items were stolen and everything was pretty wrecked inside.”

Ice Cream is a focus in the summer, but for the winter months, Campbell runs the Christmas barn, featuring hot chocolate.

He is temporarily operating out of a trailer in the parking lot of the Chocolate River Station.

Campbell has ten student employees that work for him, but he says this unfortunate situation will mean he can’t give them all of the hours they were hoping for this Christmas.

“This has been an upsetting and discouraging experience but the community of Riverview and the RCMP have all been very supportive which is a great feeling,” Campbell says.

Campbell isn’t sure why someone would target The Ice Cream Barn for vandalism, “Someone needed the money and other things more than I did I guess.”

He expects it’ll be at least five weeks before the repairs can be done and the windows fixed.

The temporary location for the Christmas Barn is open every day, from 5 pm-9 pm on weekdays and from 2 pm to 9 pm on weekends.
