Fire Discovered In Abandoned Home In Moncton

Moncton Fire battled flames in the basement of an abandoned home overnight.

Platoon Chief Brian Mcdonald says at around 2 am this morning, a neighbour discovered the fire at the corner of Purdy Avenue and Killam Street.

Firefighters managed to quickly extinguish it and were only on the scene for around 30 minutes.

Mcdonald says the fire caused only minor damage to the home.

He adds this is a vacant home with no power and there was no one inside when they arrived.

An investigation is underway by Moncton Fire and RCMP.
