Low Voter Turnout In Municipal Elections So Far

Advance voting for upcoming local government elections in New Brunswick has wrapped up.

There are around 230,000 eligible voters who can cast a ballot.

Just over 26,000 made their choice on Saturday and Monday at advance polls.

On Saturday, 12,483 votes were cast, and on Sunday there were 13,903.

Voting in returning offices prior to advance polls amounted to 2,505.

This puts the voter turnout to date at around 12.5 per cent.

Election day for the newly created municipalities under local governance reform is November 28th.
