A new Facebook page for the Codiac Regional RCMP.
RCMP Superintendent Benoit Jolette explained the purpose of the page to Moncton City Council this week, “This new Facebook page is not going to be monitored 24/7, but it allows us to share a lot more of the day-to-day stuff. On the New Brunswick RCMP website, what we often see are major incidents, missing persons, or major investigations. On this, it’ll be everything that’s done on a daily basis, whether it’s attending a school, doing a traffic operation, attending a community event, things that are new and up and coming, or whatever. It gives us the availability of having our dedicated space.”
Jolette added that if you have a crime to report, it should still be called in, and not left as a message on the Facebook page.
“We’re still looking for people to give us a call if it’s an emergency, on 911. If it’s not a non-emergency, but something that still needs to get reported, call 857, 2400,” Jolette stated.
So far, the page has garnered a lot of interest with over 2500 followers.
Jolette added that the page has been created on Facebook, but will be launched in the coming weeks.
