Winter weather blast expected in N.B. on Tuesday

If you haven’t installed your snow tires yet, you’ll need to get them done before Tuesday.

Environment Canada is forecasting our first winter blast for Southern and Southeastern New Brunswick.

Special weather statements have been issued for areas including Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, Fundy National Park, Saint John and County, Sussex, Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County.

Snowfall is expected to arrive Tuesday afternoon and continue until Wednesday afternoon, with up to 15 centimetres expected. We can also expect wind gusts between 60 and 80 kilometres per hour.

Environment Canada expects the worst to arrive overnight on Tuesday. Due to the nature of this system, there could be slight changes in the track between now and Tuesday, which means snowfall amounts could rise or fall significantly.

Along the coast, precipitation may fall as rain instead, depending on temperatures.

Warnings or watches could be issued by Monday night or Tuesday morning.
