Family escapes safely during garage fire

A fire has destroyed a detached garage and damaged a home in Dieppe.

Firefighters were called to Fox Creek Road on Monday night.

A family of four managed to escape safely and called 911.

Fire Chief Marc Cormier says the garage and its contents are a total loss.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby home.

Cormier says there’s minimal heat damage to the residence.

Sixteen firefighters and 2 chief officers responded to the scene, along with Codiac RCMP, Ambulance New Brunswick and NB Power.

The cause is still under investigation.
