Today is the 12th anniversary for Soupfest, a fundraiser for the United Way.
The event used to raise money for a now defunct charity called Support for Single Parents.
Nancy Hartling used to be the executive director of that charity and will be attending this year at the Moncton Market.
“You get to taste a number of soups, I think this year you’ve got 26 or 27 people bringing their soups from various restaurants, so it’s over the lunch time which is really fabulous,” says Hartling. “There’s two times you can go, from 11 – 12 or 12:15 to 1:15.”
The money raised will be going to the United Way Community Fund, and will support 31 programs in Southeastern New Brunswick.
United Way Executive Director Debbie McInnis says every dollar in the Community Fund returns to the area.
