Grass fire closes Mountain Road

A grass fire on Mountain Road in Moncton’s North End put many residents on edge.

Flames could be spotted in a grassy area in the 1800 block at around 9:30 Sunday night.

Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and prevented it from spreading to nearby businesses.

A charred section of the grass has been left behind.

This was just another reminder of the extremely dry conditions.

Heat warnings are currently in effect for the majority of New Brunswick. As of Monday morning, 12 fires are burning, with two of them out of control.
