Charges laid after alleged assault on Elsipogtog First Nation

A 25-year-old man is behind bars after a reported assault of a woman on the Elsipogtog First Nation.

RCMP say the incident happened on May 27.

Officers searched a home and a vehicle, and seized an air pistol matching the description given by the victim, two magazines, air canisters and pellets.

A man was arrested the same day,

Charges include uttering threats, pointing a firearm, assault, assault with a weapon, and assault by choking were laid.

The man is being held in custody and will return to court on June 9.
