Ontario man charged in N.B. drug trafficking investigation

Numerous drug-related charges have been laid following a search of a Moncton home.

A 28-year-old Scarborough, Ontario man was arrested on May 26, after officers searched the Garfield Street residence.

Numerous items were seized, including a loaded handgun, armour-piercing ammunition, approximately 1.7 kilograms of fentanyl, approximately 1.8 kilograms of methamphetamine, 180 grams of cocaine, and Canadian currency.

Three others were also arrested, a 54-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman. They were later released.

The 28-year-old man appeared in court on May 27.

He is charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl (and analogues)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
  • Possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization
  • Possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without licence/registration

He is scheduled to return to court on June 10.
