Bacteria Forces Temporary Visitor Suspension At Georges-Dumont Hospital

Visits have been temporarily suspended in the General Medicine and Step-Down Units at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.

Vitalité Health Network says this is due to the presence of Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) in patients on that unit.

That is a bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract that can develop resistance to antibiotics..and can be spread from person to person.

This ban on visits will remain in place until further notice.
