Eco Fest planned for Magnetic Hill Zoo

An event that raises awareness of conservation and the protection of animals is coming up at the Magnetic Hill Zoo later this month.

It’s the third annual Eco-Fest.

Director Jill Marvin says it’s a celebration of environmental organizations throughout the area, “This is really a fundraiser to help raise funds for our next developments, for improvements for our animal care and welfare programs.”

Everyone is invited to visit the Zoo, but as an added bonus, there’s a group of organizations that will tell you how to get more actively involved.

“Organizations like the Atlantic Wildlife Institution are talking about rehabilitating animals in the area. It would be like organizations that are promoting sustainable agriculture or taking care of the environment. We have to inspire people to want to protect animals and protect wildlife, wild places and the environment,” Marvin says.

Those who visit the Zoo, their ticket admission goes directly to the Friends of the Zoo.

Eco-Fest runs May 24 and 25.
