The boats from Greater Moncton’s three fire departments were launched onto the Petitcodiac River.
This came after reports of an overturned dinghy spotted in the water.
Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Keith Guptill says the calls came in at around 9:30 a.m. Friday with around 25 firefighters from Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview responded.

After a thorough search of the river, a dinghy was located, but Guptill said there was no one inside, and no one in the water.
RCMP received a call from the owner of the dinghy shortly after the search and rescue who informed them the inflatable was left by the shore and much have floated away with the tide.
When calls like this come in, it is standard for all three departments to respond.
Guptill noted this is the fourth river rescue type call in the last couple of months.
