A partnership that helps prevent bicycle theft will continue.
Codiac RCMP are working with 529 Garage for a second year.
Owners can register their bikes on a mobile app with serial numbers and pictures.
If a registered bike is stolen, it triggers an alert and all 529 Garage users in the area are notified.
If someone sees the bicycle, they can make a report in the app to identify its location.
Cyclists are invited to kick-off the 2022 cycling season at an upcoming free 529 Garage registration event hosted by the Codiac Regional RCMP.
At the events, Codiac Regional RCMP members will help cyclists register their bikes and give out free 529 Garage shield stickers.
Please bring the bicycle to the event to complete the registration process and make sure to download the 529 Garage application before attending.
- May 7, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: outside Moncton City Hall, 655 Main Street
- May 14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Dieppe Market, 232 Gauvin Road
- May 28 , 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Riverfront Park gazebo, Riverview, Coverdale Road
To register for 529 Garage:
- Download the 529 Garage mobile app and create a free account. The app is available in English and French for Android and iOS mobile devices.
- Register your bicycle by adding photos and some basic information, such as the serial number, make and model.
- Once registration is complete, it is recommended to purchase a 529 Garage shield sticker to the bicycle. This tamper-evident sticker has a unique identification number and is a strong deterrent to thieves.
