Watermain Flushing Underway In Moncton

The City of Moncton has begun its annual watermain flushing program.

Three zones will be completed each week from Monday to Friday.

This could cause discolouration or slight changes in water pressure.

Residents are asked to contact Public Works at 506-859-2643 if these changes occur for more than a few hours. or if you have no water pressure.

Water flushing is expected to wrap up in July.

The annual Watermain Flushing Program takes place each spring when there is extra water available.

The City of Moncton says, “Since water typically moves through the underground pipes at less than 1 km/hr, mineral deposits accumulate in the pipes over time. The build-up can restrict water flow in the pipes and contributes to corrosion and water colour problems. Annual flushing of pipes and fire hydrants removes the mineral deposits and is critical to maintaining the quality of the water system.”

A map on the City of Moncton website will be updated every Friday advising residents of the areas being flushed.
