Boy Drowns In Edmundston Area Stream

A 12-year-old boy has died after falling into a stream in Edmundston.

According to the Edmundston fire department, a call was made to 9-1-1 at around 3pm Sunday afternoon.

One boy was hurt after falling into the water near Saint-Basile and a second boy was missing.

Emergency services including the Fire department, and police were dispatched to the scene.

After a ten minute search, the missing boy was found in the Mastic Stream and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other boy was taken to hospital, but his injuries are considered to be not life threatening.

Police say the cause of death is unknown at this time, but it is believed to be accidental.
