Riverview Councillor to withdraw motion to change procedural by-law

A motion from Riverview Town Council that created a stir on social media is expected to be withdrawn.

At last night’s meeting, Deputy Mayor Stephen Gouzoules proposed changes to a Riverview Town Council Procedural By-Law, that would alter the Mayor’s voting rights.

Gouzoules clarified this morning that it wasn’t his intention to try to take anything away from Mayor Andrew Leblanc.

He adds he will be withdrawing his motion and he regrets any misinterpretation of his intent.

Gouzoules says he hopes to work collaboratively with Mayor LeBlanc and other members of the Council to develop an alternate version of the motion.
