Cause Of Overnight Fires Under Investigation

The cause of two separate fires in Moncton overnight is under investigation.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says the first was called in at around 3am Monday morning at an abandoned, boarded up two storey home on Cedar Street.

He says heavy fire could be seen on the outside of the home when they arrived.

A neighbouring house was also damaged from the heat of the flames.

While Moncton Fire was on Cedar Street, a second call came in at around 4am for another blaze on Mapleton Road.

Bruens says Dieppe Fire was called in to assist.

They managed to keep the fire contained to the back deck of the home.

The exterior of both homes is damaged.

RCMP and Fire investigators are currently on scene at both locations, trying to determine the cause for the fires.

Bruens says, “Firefighters did an excellent job of containing and extinguishing both fires at both locations.”

Ambulance New Brunswick, RCMP and NB Power also assisted.
