An investigation by RCMP has lead to an arrest and the seizure of drugs and two unsecured firearms.
Officers confronted a man in Victoria Park on September 7th, after reports of a firearm.
The man tried to escape, and officers say he reached into his pocket and tried to pull something out.
He was arrested moments later without incident.
Police says a loaded prohibited firearm was found after a search of the man.
Later that same evening, RCMP searched a home on Cameron Street in connection with the incident.
Several items were seized including methamphetamine, prescription pills and a semi automatic rifle.
Ryan Maillet appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on September 8 and was charged with:
- unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
- possession of a firearm while prohibited
- carrying a concealed weapon
He remains in custody while awaiting another court appearance on September 22nd.
This investigation was the result of a joint operation between the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit and the Codiac Regional RCMP.
The RCMP Police Dog Services also assisted with the investigation.
These efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.
