Since its inception in 2014, Festival Inspire has created around 60 murals in the Greater Moncton area.
More are being added this week as the Festival makes its stop in the Hub City.
Event Director Lisa Griffin says this is week five of an eight week tour in the province, “It has been really cool to see how New Brunswickers are all the same, but the municipalities are a little bit different, and the feeling for the art industry.”
Griffin says this year’s Festival Inspire includes many new activities, “In addition to the murals, using the walls and the Inspire mobile as an outdoor venue, the tour offers artists of all disciplines the opportunity to perform, exhibit, give workshops or classes, in order to activate each place and their communities through the medium of art. Artists have struggled so much in 2020, we want to give them a way to express themselves while giving their communities the chance to celebrate, relax, and enjoy life a little bit this summer” says Griffin.
There is also a mini outdoor concert series this year, which will be produced and filmed by a professional crew to help young artists create their first videos and develop their visibility.
We hope to be able to reach out to even more artists across the province and let them benefit from what we have created. ” Griffin says
She adds, “It is inspiring a population to really own the murals that are leftover when we leave, but also to think a little bit outside the box and have a little hope and inspiration.”
A full list of all of the activities and the location of this year’s murals, can be found on Festival Inspire’s website.
