Many brave cold water for Dorchester polar dip

It was the fresh start that 89 people needed to ring in the new year.

All wanted a cold splash during the annual polar dip in Dorchester on New Year’s Day.

Organizers say it was one of the largest groups ever.

They took the jump into the four-foot-deep pool filled with icy cold water from Palmers Pond.

Funds raised support Fire and Rescue and Station 8 Moving Forward Co-Op.

The total amount is still being tallied, but it is at least $2,200.
