Life Insurance Advisor Offers Reassurances In COVID-19

A local financial planner is hoping to put people at ease, over COVID-19 vaccine concerns.

John Maisey says he has received questions including, “If I get the vaccine and then pass away, will my life insurance still pay? Because I have heard it won’t.”

He stresses this isn’t the case, “My concern is, that this misinformation out there about life insurance not paying out if you get the vaccine, will cause vaccine hesitancy. We want to make sure that people are very confident in the fact that their life insurance will pay regardless of the vaccine, or COVID, or whatever. Anything that is in place today, you shouldn’t have any concerns over it paying out if something unfortunate happened to you.”

He says if you do have questions, seek reassurance from your Advisor, “I would definitely encourage everyone to go in and talk to their Advisor because if you haven’t looked at your life insurance, it’s a great idea to circle back to see what you have for coverage so you fully understand it and that you have the right amount of coverage for your current situation, and not the situation when you took it out many years ago.”

Maisey says, the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association has focused on this issue, and this is something that there needs to be more awareness around, “The underlying issue is that we need to get out is worry pas, you’re covered.”
