Christmas Daddies Telethon raises more than $559K

Maritimers have demonstrated their overwhelming generosity with what has become a holiday tradition for many in these parts.

Showcasing local performers, the 61st annual CTV Christmas Daddies Telethon was hosted from locations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island on Saturday.

A grand total of more than $559,000 in pledges was raised during Saturday’s broadcast from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and more donations are expected.

With the Salvation Army, the event helps less fortunate children during the holiday season. They provided food, toys, and gifts to over 18,000 children across the region last year alone.

Since it began in 1964, the telethon has raised more than $39 million dollars for Maritime families.
