1 killed, 7 injured in Moncton-area crash

One person has died and seven others were injured following a head-on crash near Moncton.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Route 115 in Irishtown around 10 p.m. Friday.

RCMP Cpl. Guillaume Belanger said it is believed a car crossed the centre line and struck a jeep.

Belanger said the driver of the car, an 18-year-old woman from Moncton, died at the scene.

The four passengers in the car were taken to the hospital, including one in critical condition, he said. The three others are believed to be in stable condition.

Belanger said the driver and two passengers in the jeep were taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
